Bike Tour Difficulty Classification

Our bike tours vary greatly — from smooth asphalt rides to rural gravel roads, from steady climbs to challenging mountain switchbacks.

To help you understand what to expect before joining, we created a CCN-specific difficulty system.

Difficulty is defined by:

  • Surface type
  • Elevation gain
  • Total distance
  • Traffic load

Very Easy (Yellow)

Flat asphalt or simple gravel. 15–30 km. Very low traffic probability.

Easy (Green)

Asphalt or simple gravel with small climbs. Elevation gain up to 200 m. 30–60 km. Low traffic.

Moderate (Orange)

Asphalt or gravel requiring basic handling skills. Elevation gain 500–600 m. 30–70 km. Moderate traffic.

Hard (Red)

Challenging climbs and descents on asphalt or gravel. Elevation gain 1000–2000 m. 50–170 km. Traffic depends on the route.

Very Hard (Blue)

Mountain switchbacks, steep climbs, technical terrain. Requires strong endurance and advanced bike handling. Elevation gain 1500–3500 m. 70–250 km.

Even if you think a difficulty level doesn’t match your abilities, don’t be afraid to try. If not on the first attempt, you’ll succeed on the next!
