Super Randonneur – Alexandre Gegechkori

Members of the Caucasus Cycling Network are already familiar with the concept of a brevet, but it may come as news that the only official Georgian participant of Paris–Brest–Paris to date is Alexandre Gegechkori.

He contacted us after information about Brevet Star Wars was published and shared his story, which we believe will be inspiring for you as well.

Fighting for the License

In 2018, the “battle” for obtaining a license began. It required months of waiting and searching for the right contacts to finally receive a response from Audax Club Parisien.

Qualification for PBP

To participate in the 2019 Paris–Brest–Paris, it was necessary to complete qualifying 200 km, 300 km, 400 km and 600 km brevets and obtain the official medals.

Alexandre planned and completed all of them independently. According to requirements, he sent store receipts to official representatives to confirm that he had indeed passed specific checkpoints at specific times.

Super Randonneur

After successfully completing all four qualifying brevets, he received the title and medal of Super Randonneur.

1200 km – Paris–Brest–Paris

The final stage was the 1200 km Paris–Brest–Paris, one of the most challenging randonneuring events in the world. Through great determination and endurance, Alexandre successfully finished this legendary brevet.
